At Together We Care, we value servant leadership. We see leadership as an opportunity to put others' needs before our own. We measure success by growing and developing other people. We listen to the needs of individuals and find ways to meet those needs.
Our organization offers a variety of ways for you to partner with us by volunteering your time, unique talents, experience, and special skill sets. Look below to find a volunteer team that best suits your interests and commitment level.
The Together Conference volunteer team helps us train leaders from all over the country. There are a variety of roles including welcome care, food servers, check-in, parking attendants. This team requires a full Saturday commitment and can be once a year or every month, depending on the number of Conferences that we schedule each year.
Our event planning team assists with tasks leading up to events such as fundraising events and conferences. Roles vary from envisioning events to decorating to communication to stuffing goodie bags. If you have a passion for events and hospitality, this team is for you! The number of volunteer opportunities vary throughout the year.
We want families to know they have a friend in us! Family companions can be someone who just sends a text once a week to someone who goes on occasional outings with them. Our family companions help us to stay connected with each family and know what their needs are so that we can better serve each one.
This team is ideal for you if you are highly relational and a good listener. Our mentors are people who enjoy affecting change in someone's life. This role requires a minimum of a monthly face to face commitment with an individual with a disability.
Running a non-profit requires lots of administrative support. If you are a gifted organizer and love files, spreadsheets, and databases, this is your team! We have ongoing administrative projects that can work around your schedule and availability.
If you have knack for teaching, we need you! Assist students in K - 12th grade with homework help, in virtual learning groups, or just working on needed academic skills. GROUP HOME SERVICE PROJECTS
We partner with two organizations who oversee and manage groups homes all around Metro-Atlanta. These homes often need groups to help with routine home maintenance, cleaning, yardwork, etc. Commitment level varies depending on the need and area. Follow our Facebook page for up to date projects in your area.
MINISTRY TEAM | OUTREACH
We have several opportunities for you to join us in teaching the bible to people with disabilities. We offer a curriculum based weekly lesson in group homes or bible studies that meet in various communities each week. This is a weekly or bi-weekly commitment with the same group to discuss the word of God.
If you are a parent of a child in special education, have experience as a special educator, or have legal experience, we would love to have your expertise on our educational advocate team. Many families cannot afford to hire an advocate to ensure their child is getting the proper education. So, we provide volunteer advocates to help navigate IEP meetings, establish appropriate accommodations, and to help develop goals and objectives. This typically requires a few hours during a weekday.
Many people with disabilities do not have reliable, affordable transportation options. If you love to drive, we would love to have you as part of our transportation team.
MINISTRY TEAM | LOCAL CHURCH
One of our goals is to help local churches establish special needs and disability ministries. In order for these ministries to be effective, most of them need volunteers. If you want to be part of an ongoing weekly ministry team, we can help you get connected with a church in your area.
INDIVIDUALIZED LIFE PLAN TEAM
We create teams of accountability partners for each of our adults with disabilities. Be part of a team that is helping an individual accomplish their life goals.
LIFE GROUP HOST
Our community is a constantly growing community and we love to gather together! If you are a great host, and love inviting people into your home or love planning community get togethers, we want you as a life group host. This volunteer role is at least a quarterly commitment.
