Family Coordinator
Commitment: 2-4 hours per week
Overview:
As a Family Coordinator with Together We Care, you will play a vital role in supporting families of individuals with special needs and disabilities. You will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by providing guidance, resources, and emotional support to approximately 25 families.
Responsibilities:

Conduct virtual or phone meetings with assigned families, ensuring contact at least once every three months.

Listen to and understand the unique needs and challenges faced by each family.

Provide appropriate resources, support, and referrals based on each family’s needs.

Maintain accurate records of interactions and follow-ups to ensure continuity of care.

Participate in a mandatory training course to become a certified Family Coordinator, equipping you with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in this role.

Together We Care is seeking dedicated and passionate Educational Advocates to join our team. This volunteer role is crucial in supporting families and individuals with special needs by advocating for appropriate educational services and accommodations.
Responsibilities:

Assist families in understanding their rights and the educational services available for their children with special needs.

Advocate on behalf of students and their families in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, 504 Plan meetings, and other school-related conferences.

Collaborate with parents, teachers, and school administrators to develop and implement effective educational plans.

Provide guidance and support to families in navigating the special education system, including assessments, placements, and accommodations.

Keep up-to-date with special education laws, policies, and best practices to ensure informed advocacy.
